I began practicing Yoga 18 years ago. Growing up in Russia, I studied Classical Choreography and Contemporary Ballet from the age of six and I was a competitive dancer for 10 years.
Eventually, years of dance took its toll. My back was hurting constantly. Massage Therapy and Chiropractic treatment did not
provide long-term relief, so I found myself seeking alternative methods that might not simply relieve trauma, but eliminate it
completely. In my search for answers I began my yoga practice and my path to being pain-free.
During this time my mother was hospitalized with severe spinal pain. Doctors prescribed a daily regime of physical therapy and
32 different pills. Inspired by the relief and peace Yoga brought me, I began teaching my mother to practice, exploring movement,
stillness, and discovering relationships between body, mind, and spirit. After only a short time, my mother's pain and pills were
gone.
Together, we dove deeper into our study of Yoga and eventually both began teaching. My mother still teaches yoga 5-7 days a week in the same yoga studio where I once taught.
I immigrated to The United States in 2018 and continue to apply years of disciplined dance and yoga training to my personal
practice. In my years of teaching I came to understand how crucial strong core muscles are in our day to day activities, especially as we age. The goal of building strong core muscles through movement is what led me to Pilates and the Xformer!
I started to practice Pilates with Kari and Meghan at Breathing Room, then took an apprentice program which led me to teaching at the Breathing Room. Working with the beautiful and supportive team here feels like a second home.
I believe everyone comes to our classes via a different path but we are all united in our journey. Because of this my classes
incorporate a non-judgmental teaching style and compassion-centered philosophy.
